On 27th April 2011 Emily and I got engaged. It’s been an exciting few weeks and today we went to look at our first wedding venue, Normanton Park Hotel, on the shores of Rutland Water. Having worked there about 14 years ago (that makes me feel old) I was pleasantly surprised by how much it has changed. It has a lovely conservatory now on the main restaurant with amazing views of Rutland Water at the sunken church. I think it’s going to be a real contender. But I’ve told Emily we’re still going to look round other venues just to get a feel.

Starting to look at venues is starting to make the whole engagement/getting married thing just a little bit more real. There’s still tons of things to sort out, but I’m actually looking forward to it. Bring it on!
